sensation (raw)

all we'll need is the light from the street lamps
i'll take your hand in mine
and barefoot
our feet on the pavement
we'll make the city ours

teach you to tango
while i do the cha cha
we won't need storms because
babe, you're electric

spin me 'round,
oh, we're made of wind and fire
the only things that ever mattered
red heat blazing

going, going, going,
gone

i'll leave you desperate to catch your breath
wondering / wandering
just a child / straight fire
racing through the night

unnameable, uncontrollable
wildfire
set me quivering, gasping, begging
or let me go.

here i go.

no soft poem,
one wild ride,
they'll never know what we'll do.
set the city on fire / no kiss and tell to be found

you'll be gripping those sheets
aching, aching, aching.

a firecracker in a toy shop
no end in sight
not over until i say it's over
yeah, you better listen closely.

i'll get you thinking
real hard about what you'll do next

you said you'd give me something to think about
well you definitely did
this ain't the end, my friend
we're just getting started.

honesty hour

This blog is a secret. And so am I. The noise is great because it makes it easier to hide - to be invisible. To exist without all of the eyes watching and the people judging. But now it's time to be quiet. It's time to be honest. My parents don't know about that blog post I wrote on Hey There, Delilah and I never shared it with them because it was a secret and because I think my mom would be ashamed that I opened up to people I barely knew, but it took me seven and a half years to talk to her about it. My little brother is afraid of becoming my father and I think that's a little alarming. But I'm glad he's trying to be better. I can't make decisions and I struggle with expectations because I feel like no matter how hard I try, I will always let people down. I will always be a disappointment. Years ago, I was raped. And I don't remember it. And he doesn't understand it, even though he tries his best to be patient. And he says he loves m...

the edge

i could drive to the edge of the world in the middle of the night and nobody would know. steer my car to the fringe of the earth and reach my hands over the ledge and just. just. did i ever exist at all? everything is made of dust and nothing matters unless you let it. ash and dust. blood and bone. digits. fingers. reaching over the edge. lingering reaching i feel like i'm losing myself in myself. does that even make sense? compacting / compressing safety-proofing. dehumanizing. disappearing. it is so hard to be good. standing on the edge watching everything disintegrate feeling the ash brush against my fingers at the edge of the world

work in progress

what hurt the most was how much i loved him. hands clasped together, eating chocolate donuts and gelato on his couch in the basement talking about secret bosses while we stole kisses. the tulip festival and the way it rained after every movie we saw and the classical music we listened to on the way home. it was the love that hurts. not the names he called me or when he shoved me into the door or kicked my windshield so hard that it seemed like it shattered everything you will never know what happened to me. you will never understand what it's like to give someone your heart and have this happen. i feel my personality splintering you. will. never. understand. and i can't explain it to you. i can't show you and this lack of understanding kills me. sends me reeling. you will never understand what is happening to me.
